Did You Know

Sometimes when you think you’ve seen it all, you find that you really haven’t.  But that’s OK because exploring new things is always fun. I’m going to touch up on any little trend details  that I haven’t magnified for summer yet. Micro cleats, a small  bit of texture added to dresses and skirts, are great for any silhouette by adding shape and dimension while not being too obvious.

Skirts and dresses have also come out with microprints and bold patterns in tiny floral. Another pattern trend called Gingham, known as a checkered print usually worn by children, has grown up this summer and can be found on mid length dresses, and shirts. Why not give it a shot? You might like going back to your childhood for a day, all while looking chic and stylish. Speaking of chic, did you know that nautical stripes are popping out everywhere? Meaning that simple nautical stripes, whether on your top or bottom as shorts or pants, are turning into a piece to go with bright, solid colors. For example, a nautical tee with a pair of bright salmon or lime green shorts. Bingo, we have a winner, the cutest outfit combination of summer! Or at least in my opinion. I think you may like it too.

Also, going back a couple blogs ago, I told you about off the shoulder trends, well there is also an elegant trend  in dresses and dressy tops that secures around the neck area. Still leaving the shoulders to breath, this look is perfect for those who don’t like lowcut tops. Another dressy trend, ruffles, is best worn loose and soft.

Did you know that plain white t-shirts can be worn with dressy outfits? Try one with a flowy, light weight skirt or tucked into dress pants for a unique look. This look is seen on the runways for summer and gives you a lighter weight option for those humid work days or fancy outside events. If you didn’t know, now you do. Be inspired to add these few small details to your summer wordrobe and you’ll be walking down your own runway every single day.

A Fresh, Crisp Summer

The color white is a great for summertime, it’s has a fresh, crisp, and clean feel and makes things more exciting than your everyday denim. Jeans that you can pair with any summer color are a must-have to look and feel refreshed this summer and can be worn with any color and style top.

Flared denim jeans had their time to shine last year, but are making a comeback and cuter than ever with stretch, cotton tees. Wide leg white denim with buttons on each hip to create a nautical look are perfect for this season. Its best to avoid striped shirts, you don’t want to go overoard and into the water with the sailor look.

On the opposite side of the boat; instead of the wide leg, try straight leg denim in white. This is for the ladies who like their skin tight jeans, but want a break from the heat to let in some air flow. I am sure you’ll be glad to be in them once the sun is beaming down at 3PM. One of the biggest ongoing trends, the crop top is great with white, high-waisters. Rock this look with some wedges or strappy sandals. White jeans will help you to start your outfit with a blank, or should I say, white slate and help you build an outfit you love with creativity, as you are uniquely you.

Bathing Suits Galore

What you’re about to experience is some great bathing suit shopping tips to make every woman, no matter what shape or size, feel more ready than ever before hitting the stores. Not every store will carry the same styles and not every woman can wear the same style. So here’s a quick guide to show you the way.

Finding a suit for your bust can be a challenge, big or small. For the small chest ladies out there, try embellishments, padding, and ruffles on the top to create the illusion of a fuller bust. For those who already have a full bust, go for the tops with wiring and wider straps for extra support. For broad shoulders, suits with patterns going down the side are perfect. They distract from the wider area as they create the illusion of an hour glass figure, or emphasize on it, if thats your body shape.

For the bottom, those with a flatter one should show a little cheek on the side of their suit and try bright colors and patterns to distract from that area if wanted. If you want to distract from your bigger bottom, don’t choose string bikinis of course. A good idea for balancing out this type of bottom is solid, full coverage bottoms with printed tops in both two piece or one.

If you love to hide your love handles, a high waisted two piece above the belly bottom is the way to go. For hiding any back fat don’t go with thin straps that would dig into your skin, thicker ones are best to keep everything smooth. We can’t forget those lovely legs. Thicker legs go best with longer styles such as a cute skirt on the bottom. If you have short legs, just the opposite, a higher cut is best. After all is said and done, it’s about being comfortable, and comfort leads to confidence. So use these tips and watch them set you into the look that suits you best.

Summer is here

Summer is finally here and so are the biggest trends of the season. Many will influence your wardrobe and confidence, but which ones will you like the most? Let’s talk about a few of the coolest ones for this hot summer weather coming through.

The first to mention is the chunky sandals. Show off those tootsies with thick straps and platform soles. The greatest thing is they are super comfortable. How exciting, right? Something as simple as a logo can get people excited as logo tee-shirts are suddenly all the rage right now. These T’s go great with your favorite denim shorts or capris.

Speaking of denim, denim mini skirts are coming back. So you can pull them out of your closet and try them with those chunky sandals. Off the shoulder tops would go great with your denim skirt too. Whether it’s a button down or tee-shirt, the off the shoulder or “cold shoulder” trend is a way to be confidently sexy without being too bold. It carries a nonchalant,  feel that makes it hard to not like.

For the hair, instead of flower head garlands, tiaras have taken over. They’re meant to be worn with anything. And there are way more summer trends to talk about in my next blogs that will make you feel like a queen, so why not? You’re all royalty in these trends.

Think outside the Stripes

The striped look has been around for centuries, tracing back to the navy in the 1880’s. Lets talk about how you can look fabulous wearing it today and how it has become part of the foundation to many wardrobes, just like whites and denims. Stripes have been known for their classical horizontal direction but recently have steered themselves a new way. There are many vertical, asymmetrical, or scattered patterns too this season in both thick and thin lines.

On the runway this season, broad horizontal stripes are balanced with a pair of simple sneakers. These pieces include body suits and knit dresses. Vertical stripes are great for the work attire, especailly on suit separates. So don’t seperate yourself from the fun striped look at work, there is plenty of room for it in the office. When at home, however, get comfy with a vertically striped, long shirt dress and leggings. This outfit is great with flats or flips flops. You don’t always have to keep it just one direction though, asymmetrical stripes are here too and are especailly great on skirts and dresses.

What about something different than everything I’ve already mentioned? That is definitely possible. Stripes that go every which way is a thing too this season. See what outfits you can create with zig zag lines that are anything but classic. Zig zag stripes are awesome on casual dresses and change the way a dress is designed because the stripes are put in places that help accentuate your greatest features. So why not think outside the box, or should I say outside the stripes this spring.

New Ways to wear Denim

This spring, denim has made its debut in many different shapes and sizes.  My favorite part about this is that these spectacular items are lightweight material for the warm weather. Blue denim, specifically what I’m talking about, is a neutral that can be paired with just about any spring color.

The first denim item, which happens to be my favorite, is the denim jacket. The jean jacket has always been around but it is in full effect this season as it  can be paired with so many different things. For example, with a spring dress, over a v-neck tee, with white pants or shorts, or with a bit of color patches within the jacket itself, to go with your color-filled outfit.

Now we know that denim is obviously too casual for work, but never a denim dress! It is completely work appropiate, which is great if your office is lacking air conditioners. Pair it with a nice black belt for the weekdays or a colorful one for the relaxing weekend. Now for something you’ve already seen and worn; overalls.  They’re making a comeback this season and sending some of us ladies to a kindergarten flashback! They go great with cropled or fitted tops in floral, stripes or even flannel.  To be totally comfy try some high tops on with this flashback queen of denim.

Speaking of comebacks, here comes the extra long, wide fit jeans. When shopping for these red hot flares, be sure they almost touch the ground and let your shoes stick out from the bottom. You don’t want them to look like you’re waiting for a flood! Their easy-going, wide bottom style will make you feel super groovy.

A very modern style in jeans, a light wash, is perfect for the warmer weather as darker colors are better for winter. Light wash denim is perfect with white; pair them with a white V-neck and/or white shoes. Whether you’re heading to work or down to the beach, I think you’ll feel amazing in your denim with it’s lightweight, quality, fabric and exciting variety that it adds to your wardrobe.

Spring has Sprung

Spring has sprung into our world with the new, adorable off the shoulder trend that welcomes you with open arms. It brings you breathable, breezier, and lighter feeling tops with cutouts meant to accentuate just the shoulders.

There are many different styles that off the shoulder brings to you. Try a Bohemian style off the shoulder shirt with embroidery or a wide sleeve top that makes you stand out from the crowd. Or it’s great for date night especially in red or black, the most romantic colors. Black is a little mysterious, which is great for a first date.  For date night also try a body suit style off the shoulder top with a skirt and a bold red lipstick.

If you are going casual, there are ribbed short sleeve tops, sweaters, and lovely lace.Wear your favorite jeans and your hair up, and you’re off the shoulder top will be the highlight of your day off of work. My personal favorite for chilly nights are off the shoulder sweatshirts. If I want to be outside, I just slip mine on and I don’t feel like I’m wearing pajamas. But no matter where you are, you won’t get the cold shoulder from anyone while wearing this amazing new trend.

Global Commune

The final spring trend to get yourself into is the Global Commune. It keeps the world spinning with a deeper appreciation for many cultures. It’s free-spirited, bohemian vibe can be found in copper, teal, blue, and red. These earth-tone colors are wrapped around tweed, jacquard, leather, and crepe de chine. Patterns with Japanese influences and medallion, as well as fringe, top stitching, and embroidery are quiet frequently found in this trend. Some key examples are a midi sheath dress, kimono sleeved jacket, pajama pants,  boxy tee-shirt, and a collarless jacket. Get global as you embrace your inner being and are one with the world–of fashion!

The trend full of Life

Alive, is the next exciting spring trend to talk about. It’s natural and organic influences will help you to see the world in a different light and live life to the fullest  while being intertwined with nature.

It’s not a surprise that you will find this fashion trend filled with browns, taupes, greens, and yellows. Olive is one of its base colors and you can find reds and oranges as accent colors. Chiffon, tweed, and lace are materials that you can find these colors in. To get more into detail, patterns include tropical, palms,, florals, and feathers.

Amazing and unique items included are tube and asymmetrical skirts, crop tops, oversized blouses, and robe coats. Try these items with wedge sandals with feathers or a leaf clutch. It is garanteed that getting into this trend will make you feel more down-to-earth.

Seamless Innovation

This spring trend is anything but seamless, it’s built with many ways to wear technology and carries activewear influences. It balances itself with a sporty edge and utilitarian softness, with a military vibe. Some examples of that carry these stylish features are a sleaveless military-like trench coat, parkas, elastic waist-band burmuda shorts, and a jumpsuit.

You can find these items in almost limited colors such as aqua, orange, and yellow that play as accents with navy, olive, and grey as base colors. They go great with teva sandals, visors, and stirrup socks. You’ll enjoy this trend with buckles, straps and zippers in army surplus, linen, and cotton twill. What a unique way to dress this time of year. If you like nuetral colors and something that doesn’t look like anything you wore last season, its time to be daring and make some seamless innovations for yourself.
