The Icebreaker on April 11-12 marks the opening of the 75th season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP). To commemorate the occasion, TSMP will be holding a 75 lap race for their premiere NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, the Sunoco Modifieds.

Popular cruises in Southeastern MA get ready for the 2015 season

The Brockton based Wheels of Time will try to get the 2015 cruise night schedule off to a start at the Raynham Taunton Park on Rt. 138 in Raynham on Thursday night, April 9 at 4 p.m. They will continue to run every other Thursday starting on April 23, May 7, May 21, June 4, June 18, July 2, July 16, July 30, August 13, August 27, September 10. Some of these dates could change due to rain-outs.The club’s annual car show is set for Sunday, September 20 with a rain date of Saturday, September 26. That club will wind up the 2015 season with two more cruise nights set for Thursday’s September 24 and October 8. The move to Raynham Park a few years ago, from Southeastern Regional Votec in Easton, gave the Wheels of Time almost unlimited parking spaces and this cruise night continues to grow. Continue reading
Three 150 lap events are set for Oxford Plains, Lee USA and Thunder Road
The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will compete in three 150-lap events on three completely different tracks in all three northern New England states to open the 2015 season. The New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150, now re-set due to snow on April 28, is the usual traditional opening event for ACT teams held yearly at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. Teams will now start off the 2015 season at Oxford Plains Speedway (OPS) in Oxford, ME on April 18, then Lee USA followed by their annual visit to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on May 3.
Winter snow results in rescheduling of Lee USA Speedway 2015 opener to Sunday, April 26
The never-ending winter of 2015 has forced officials of the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and the Lee USA Speedway to postpone the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12.
Maine’s Ben Rowe shows the field he’s tops at Georgia’s Anderson Motor Speedway
Three-time Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Champion Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine began his title defense in style with a thrilling win in Saturday night’s Peach Blossom Special for the PASS South Super Late Models at Anderson Motor Speedway. Rowe held off rookies Zane Smith and Jared Fryar to snap a winless streak dating back to November, 2013 when he won the North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway.

ACT special events in 2015 the biggest in years
The 2015 American-Canadian Tour (ACT) schedule is shaping up to be one of the biggest in recent memory. 11th Annual Norwood Arena/New England Dragway South Reunions are set for Sunday, June 7, 2015

One of the famed Eastern Bandits, Denny Zimmerman of Connecticut, has committed to attend the 11th Annual Norwood Arena/New England Dragway South Reunions set for Sunday, June 7, at Bezema Motors on US Rt. 1 in Norwood from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. He was among three other members of that group that traveled the eastern seaboard back in the 60’s.
Jon Beekhuis returns to ESPN as well as sticking with the NBC Sports Network

NASCAR’s move to NBC from ABC/ESPN triggered a lot of musical chairs of the various on-air personalities during the off-season. It even continued into the early season. We are sure that could be a few more as the dust settles and the networks continue to jockey for position. As the sanctions make changes in TV rights networks, It keeps those sports agents for those on-air personalities busy drawing up contracts and negotiating compensation for their clients. MacDonald will be tough to beat in Lee USA’s Governor’s Cup on Sunday, April 12
Eddie MacDonald of Rowley has gone on to win just about every major regional Late Model race, including championship efforts in the NASCAR K&N Series, the Oxford 250 (twice), Bond Auto ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (twice), Thunder Road’s famous Milk Bowl, and recently he swept the triple 100 lap features in a very competitive field at the World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
