Ryan Flores ended a long quest for victory in a Len Sammons Motorsports Productions (LSMP) Three Quarter (TQ) Midget feature Friday night inside the Allentown (PA) PPL Center by passing Jimmy Blewett for the lead on lap three, then besting Erick Rudolph in a spectacular fight for supremacy that lasted the first half of the 40-lap race and ended with Rudolph slamming the first turn fence. First Annual New England Short Track Showdown at New Hampshire Motor Speedway headlines 11-race schedule for Granite State Pro Stock Series in 2017

The GSPSS has added two additional stops in 2016 at Wiscasset Speedway in ME and Riverhead Raceway on Long Island.

 

An eleven race series featuring the Granite State Pro Stocks, including one race at NHMS in Loudon, NH, will be be on the 2017 agenda for that full fendered race car club.

 

 

 

The Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) announced an exciting 11-race schedule for the 2017 season on Saturday. The schedule includes events in four different states across a total of 10 different race tracks, giving plenty of variety for both drivers and fans. Continue reading

Expanded “Road to the Oxford 250” Returns for 4th Year in 2017

The Oxford 250 Super Late Model race will take place on  August 27, 2017.  In the meantime there will be qualifying races at various track in the northeast, southeast and Canada for the biggest paying event for Super Late Models..

Oxford Plains Speedway owner and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today the continuation of the “Road To The Oxford 250” program in 2017.  Celebrating its fourth year in 2017, the groundbreaking “Road To The Oxford 250” concept will expand to give racers across the continent the chance to compete in short track asphalt racing’s biggest event.  As mentioned with the announcement of the Speedway 660 event over a month ago, competitors from Canada and the United States will have opportunity to race for guaranteed starting spots, while keeping the focus on the 250 throughout the season.

Valenti Modified Racing Series releases a 10 race schedule for 2017

The Valenti Modified Racing Series released a ten race series schedue for 2017.

The Valenti Modified Tour released their 2017 schedule this week.

 

That sanctioning body also plans to be at the following pre-season shows.  On Jan. 21st & 22nd, 2017 Auto Parts Swap N’ Sell in W. Springfield, Feb. 3rd & 4th, 2017 Racer’s Expo & Annual Mtg. in Marlboro, Mar. 10th – 12th, 2017 Frank Maratta’s Auto & Race-A-Rama W. Springfield.

 

The VMRS will open its racing season on May 19, 2017 at Stafford Motor Speedway Stafford Springs, CT,  May 27, 2017 Lee USA Speedway Lee, NH,  June 17, 2017 Speedway 51, Groveton, NH,  July 7, 2017 Claremont Speedway in NH,  July 21, 2017, Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH, August 12, 2017, New London -Waterford Speedbowl,  Waterford, CT, August 19, 2017 Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Scarborough, ME, September 1, 2017 Stafford Motor Speedway in CT, October 7th & 8th, 2017 Lee USA Speedway Lee, NH,  October 13th & 14th, 2017 and Thompson Motorsports Park Thompson, CT.  On December 2, 2017 the VMRS Championship Banquet,Manchester, NH.  hat’s a total of 10 races for the upcoming season.  The  2017 Schedule Is subject to change.

 

Between the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Modified Touring Series, Tri Track Series and the Valenti Modified Racing Series there will be a total of 30 Modified Touring races in New England during the 2017 racing season.  It’s going to be a tight squeeze within the 31 week racing season from early April through late October.  During the 2016 racing season there were 32 Modified races between the four tours.  One of the Tri-Track Series  events was cancelled due to no suitable rain date.  We can expect to see some cancellations in 2017. Also 2017 there’s a conflict between Stafford Motor Speedway’s Modified Touring Series and Lee USA Speedway’s Valenti Modified Touring Series  on Friday night, July 21 which will impact the entries at each track.

Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today that entry forms for the upcoming 4th Running of the Winter Meltdown at Dillon Motor Speedway are now available online at ProAllStarsSeries.com.  The “original” Winter Meltdown featuring the 12th Annual South Carolina Clash will go green on Saturday afternoon, February 4 at 2 PM and will serve as the first race of 2017 for the PASS South Super Late Models and the PASS National Championship Series. Annual Devil’s Bowl Speedway Special Award nominees announced

Lussier leads the way again; vote of drivers to determine winners at February gala

 Devil’s Bowl Speedway has announced a diverse list of 59 racecar drivers from six states who have been nominated for the track’s special annual awards.  Voting ballots for the yearly Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver trophies have been circulated to competitors from both the 1/2-mile Asphalt Track and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl, and the winners will be announced at the two-night Banquet of Champions on February 3-4 in Rutland, Vermont.

The Sportsmanship Award is given each year to one driver in each racing division who displays a consistent commitment to competitiveness, fairness, and respect.  The Most Improved Driver Award goes to someone who has made big gains in their competitiveness from previous efforts.  Track officials nominate drivers in each division, and the award winners are decided upon by a vote of drivers.

Among the 59 total racers nominated across eight divisions, 23 of them appear in multiple categories. Thirty-one drivers were nominated for one or more awards for the first time in their careers including 10 drivers from the Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) series.  Sportsman Modified driver Billy Lussier of Fair Haven, Vt., has the most nominations for the second consecutive year, gaining a nod in all four categories for which he was eligible including the Sportsmanship and Most Improved trophies for both the paved and clay ovals.

Other drivers with multiple nominations include Sportsman Modified competitors Codie Aubin, Jackie Brown Jr., Chuck Bradford, Bob Kilburn, Chad Miller, and Vince Quenneville Jr.; Renegade racers Austin McKiernan, Josh Bussino, Curtis Condon, Lou Gancarz, Matt Monaghan, Matt Mosher, and Tony Salerno; Mini Stock drivers Chris Cardarelli, Derrick Counter, Andrew FitzGerald, Roo Forrest, Eric Messier, and Brett Wood; and Late Model runners Seth Bridge, Jesse Carris, and Mark Norris.

Additional special award recipients to be named at the Banquet of Champions include Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s highest honors: The Award of Excellence, the Dedication Award, and the John Bruno Award, presented to a person or group who has made significant lifetime contributions to racing while maintaining high standards of conduct and respect on and off the track.

Tickets for the Banquet of Champions are now available.  Single-event pricing remains at $45 for adults and $25 for children age 13 and under.  Discount two-night tickets are $75 for adults and $45 for kids.  To order tickets, contact Devil’s Bowl Speedway at devilsbowlspeedway@gmail.com; tickets must be ordered by Friday, January 27, 2017.  Drivers must purchase a ticket and be present in order to receive their awards.
