NAPLES, ME (October 31) – While the 2019 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model North season has concluded, the PASS National Series still has one last race and it’s a big one.  The PASS National Super Late Model Championship will be determined in the Lanier National 200 at Georgia’s Lanier Raceplex on November 15-16.  While the championship will conclude a season that began at Richmond Raceway in March, the Lanier National 200 will pay $6,000 to the winner, and an eye-popping $1,000 just to start.  Joining the PASS Super Late Models at Lanier, will be three divisions of Legends cars and the Bandoleros.  The Legends Pro/Masters will race for $500 to win, Semi-Pros will compete for $400 to win, and the Young Lions will race for $300 to win.

In addition, to the great racing fans will be able to see on the famed 3/8-mile speedway located just outside the Atlanta metro area, camping and trackside parking will be available for purchase the weekend of the race only. Camping spots can be purchased at the track on race weekend for just $20.

One of Lanier Raceplex’s most famous views is from the tiered trackside parking along the backstretch.  Fans can purchase unreserved spots for just $10 to get a truly unique viewpoint of the Lanier National 200.

Since being announced earlier this year, the Lanier National 200 has become oneof the most anticipated events of the season.  Hosting oval track racing for the first time in nearly a decade, the Lanier National 200 will crown the 2019 PASS National Champion and, hopefully, start a new fall tradition.  And, now that all infield buildings have been removed and hauler parking will be in the outside pit area, fans will have an unobstructed view of all the action, no matter where they sit.

Richmond and Seekonk winner, Mike Hopkins, brings a commanding 76-point lead to Lanier over defending PASS national champion, Derek Griffith.  Joining the championship contenders among the early entries will be New Hamsphire drivers Gabe Brown and Bryan Kruczek, along with Canadian, JP Josiasse.  PASS southern stalwarts, Tate Fogleman and Kodie Conner, plan to make the tow from North Carolina, along with former Lanier star, Shane Chastain from Georgia.

Sunoco Race Fuel is the required fuel of PASS and is not available at the track.  Teams can email PASS at passracing@roadrunner.com or leave a message at 207-693-6497 to order fuel.  New England Race Fuel will bring fuel if teams need it.  Fuel must be pre-ordered by November 10.

The Lanier Raceplex will roar back to life on Friday November 15 with practice for PASS Super Late Models and Legends cars from 1PM to 5 PM.  On Saturday, November 16, pit gates will open at 8 AM, followed by practice at 10 AM, heat races for PASS Super Late Models, Legends, and Bandoleros at 12:30PM, followed by the Lanier National 200 and remaining features.  Sunday, November 17 is reserved as a rain date if needed.

PASS Super Late Model, Legends, and Bandolero entry forms for Lanier Raceplex, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, and the PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway.

October 30, 2019 (Mooresville, NC) – Our Motorsports will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series starting in the 2020 NASCAR season. Our Motorsports will field the No. 02 Chevrolet, starting at the series opener at Daytona International Speedway in the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 in Februar

Our Motorsports is a North Carolina based team, owned and operated by Massachusetts native, Chris Our. Competing in both the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series and the ARCA Menards Series, Our Motorsports has had much success between the two competitive series.

“We’re excited to be expanding to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2020. NASCAR’s marketing platform offers an opportunity like no other for both our existing partners and potential new partners. We have a great group of employees at Our Motorsports, who continue to work hard to grow the team. Managing the team is NASCAR Whelen Modified Champion and driver, Andy Seuss. Kevin Crosby Wins Limited Late Model R.A.D. Auto Machine Rookie of the Year Honors at Stafford Speedway

I.

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The 2019 Limited Late Model season at Stafford Speedway saw Coventry, CT native Kevin Crosby successfully make the transition from crew member to driver as he took home the R.A.D. Auto Machine Rookie of the Year award.  Crosby had served as a crew member for Glen Reen for the past five seasons leading into 2019 and it was Reen who helped convince Crosby that he should try his hand behind the wheel rather than turning wrenches.

“It means a lot to win Rookie of the Year,” said Crosby.  “Our plans at the beginning of the year were to run a part-time schedule but all my guys on the crew stepped up financially and we got a couple of sponsors to come on board.  It means a lot that everyone stepped up and helped make this happen, especially Glen Reen and Gary Patnode, who let me use his shop this season.  I’ve been part of Glen’s pit crew since I was 16 and he’s the one who really pushed me to go start driving for myself so a big thanks to him for convincing me to go out and race.  I also have to thank Zachary Tweed, Kamil Sutkowski, Chad Groskritz, Felicia Baker, and Dan Avery for lending me a firesuit for the year as well as my sponsors Second Bridge Brewing and Gearhead Mafia Car Club.”

Crosby missed the first race of the 2019 season on May 4 but he started each of the remaining 19 Limited Late Model races and he posted 2 top-5 and 19 top-10 finishes to claim R.A.D. Auto Machine rookie honors.  Crosby’s best 2 finishes of the season were fifth place efforts on June 28 and July 26, but his #33 Second Bridge Brewing team were hampered throughout their rookie campaign by an engine that had 5 seasons worth of races on it.

“We had a motor that was about 5 years old in the car this year, so it was a lot of learning for us this season,” said Crosby.  “I think the motor hurt us quite a bit.  I put some other drivers in my car for practice and they were only about a tenth or two faster than I was, which was reassuring to know it wasn’t just me as the driver why the car was slow.  It was frustrating knowing I didn’t have the power going gown the frontstretch or backstretch but I learned a lot about what tight and loose feels like behind the wheel and what we needed in the car in order to get good drive off the corners.  The car wasn’t great but it was good enough for me to learn a lot.  We’re looking forward to coming back next season full time and spending the money to get a new motor and having a new setup from Rob Russell Chassis.”

With the combination of experience gained this season and an improved #33 car with a new engine and chassis components, Crosby has his eyes set squarely on notching his first Limited Late Model victory during the 2020 season.

“Our goal for next season is to get the car in better shape to go out and win at least one race,” said Crosby.  “We might miss a race or two next season with my job so we’re not really looking at anything with points, our main thing is to win a race.  We’re going to spend time over the winter putting a new motor in the car and we’re going to go through the chassis.  We found some issues with the chassis that we didn’t know about until now. Those issues along with the old motor were hurting us.  We’re going to be teaming up with RRC for setup help and Gary Patnode’s crew is going to help us out so hopefully we can be up front with all of us working together.  I think we’ll have a good shot at winning a race and at least getting some podium finishes next season.”

Crosby will officially be crowned the 2019 Limited Late Model R.A.D. Auto Machine Rookie of the Year at the 50th Annual Stafford Speedway Champion’s Awards Banquet, scheduled for Friday, November 15 at Maneeley’s in South Windsor.  Tickets to the awards banquet are $50 and are on sale now.  Tickets can be ordered by calling the track at 860-684-2783 or they can be ordered online at www.staffordspeedway.com

Formula 1 Sets Another U.S. Viewership Record – Mexican Grand Prix on ABC Has Largest Audience Since Race’s Return

October 29, 2019

Through 18 Live Races, F1 Average Audience Up 19 Percent Over Last Year

United States Grand Prix Airs Live on ABC Sunday from Austin

The live telecast of Sunday’s Formula 1 World Championship Mexican Grand Prix on ABC drew the largest U.S. television audience on record for the event since its return in 2015, another mark in the season-long trend of audience growth for the championship across ESPN networks.

The race had an average audience of 850,000 viewers on ABC, an increase of 11 percent over the race on ABC last year (769,000) and up three percent from the NBC audience of 826,000 in 2017. The Mexican Grand Prix audience peaked at 1,014,168 as Lewis Hamilton scored his 10th win of the 2019 season.

The audience for the Mexican Grand Prix was the third-largest of the season on ESPN networks, following the Canadian Grand Prix on ABC (1.1 million average viewers) and the Monaco Grand Prix on ESPN (908,000).

Through 18 races this season, Formula 1 is averaging 671,000 viewers on ESPN networks, an increase of 19 percent over the average of 561,000 at this point last year on ESPN networks and up 24 percent from the average of 542,000 on NBC networks in 2017.

All but three of the 18 races this season have seen year-over-year viewership increases on ESPN networks.

The Formula 1 season continues this weekend with the United States Grand Prix. The race airs at 1:30 a.m. ET on ABC on Sunday, Nov. 3, from Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Things are getting interesting for Pro Stock championship-hopeful Jeg Coughlin Jr.

Note: The NHRA Nationals will be in action over the July 4 weekend at the New England Dragway in Epping,NH

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29) — With just two races left in the 2019 NHRA drag racing season, five-time Pro Stock champ-ion Jeg Coughlin Jr. once again finds himself and his JEGS.com Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro in the midst of a thrilling battle for straight-line racing’s ultimate prize. Currently third in the rankings, just 65 points behind leader Erica Enders, who happens to be his Elite Motorsports teammate, Coughlin and crew know they still have work to do if they want to capture a sixth Pro Stock title. But considering their recent perform- ances in the playoffs, where they’ve jumped from eighth to third place, and the fact the season finale in Pomona awards points and a half, Coughlin and his team have pledged to remain super aggressive in pursuit of their top goal. “Four races down and two to go, or two and a half, if you like, with Pomona being points and a half, and he find ourselves third in the points, really wanting to have top finishes in these final two races to give ourselves a chance,” Coughlin said. “There are only two in front of us we need to catch and pass, but there’s also a wolf pack behind us we need to stay ahead of so it’s going to be very tense.

“We’ve completed some very extensive testing in Tulsa since the last race and the Elite cars are all running extremely well, as they have been throughout the Countdown. Our confidence is sky-high and I’m not surprised at all that three Elite cars are at the top of the fight.” This weekend’s 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nat- iionals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway comes at a perfect time for Coughlin as he’s had massive success at this facility in the past. He won the Pro Stock trophy here in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2008 and 2009 and was runner-up in the class in both Vegas races in 2007 as well as the fall race in 2014. He was also top qualif- ier here in 2007, 2008, 2014 and 2018. Additionally, Coughlin claimed the Super Comp class hardware in Las Vegas in 2012. “Vegas is the party capital of the world and I’m always excited to get there and race,” Coughlin said. “We need to see what we can do to nip away a bit more at the two cars in front of us. The top several spots are extremely close. By far, this is the most stressful playoffs we’ve had since 2007 when we used the system where they cut-down the field in Vegas.  “Performance-wise, we need to be stay aggressive and fast. I’d love to pick right up where we left off in Dallas, where we had a really strong qualifying effort and a second-place finish. We’ll attack this race with the same energy.” Pro Stock qualifying sessions will take place at 12:45 and 3:15 p.m., Friday, and 12:45 and 3:30 p.m., Saturday. Elimination begin at noon, Sunday. (All times local).
