Mike Rowe and Joey Pole, Jr. win PASS/ACT twin races at Oxford Plains

Mike Rowe of Turner, Maine raced to his 151st Oxford Plains Speedway main event win, earning a trip to victory lane in his maiden voyage aboard Peter Petit’s lucky number 7 in AIM Recycling Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model competition at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday afternoon, while Joey ‘Pole’ Polewarczyk prevailed in the co-headlining ACT Late Model Tour 150-lapper.

Rowe, a 64-year-old veteran, multi-time track champion and all-around legend at the speedway where he was a track titlist a full four decades ago, waged a race-long battle with reigning series champion DJ Shaw of Conway, New Hampshire for supremacy in a thrilling 150-lapper for the ultra-quick AIM Super Late Models. The 2015 season at Stafford Motor Speedway will mark the second season of weekly Legend Car competition around the track’s mini-mile. In addition Stafford Speedway Management is proud to announce that the Legend Cars feature during the season ending NAPA Auto Parts Fall Final Weekend on Oct. 3rd will serve as a Legends Car Asphalt Nationals Qualifier.

For “Lightning” Larry Gelinas racing is almost as important as breathing. The 30-plus-year veteran gets behind the wheel any chance he can. This year he’ll be chasing the 2015 crown in the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS), as well as throwing his name in the hat in the Late Model division at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Three 150 lap events are set for Oxford Plains, Lee USA and Thunder Road

The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will compete in three 150-lap events on three completely different tracks in all three northern New England states to open the 2015 season. The New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150, now re-set due to snow on April 28, is the usual traditional opening event for ACT teams held yearly at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. Teams will now start off the 2015 season at Oxford Plains Speedway (OPS) in Oxford, ME on April 18, then Lee USA followed  by their annual visit to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on May 3.

MacDonald will be tough to beat in Lee USA’s Governor’s Cup on Sunday, April 12

Eddie MacDonald of Rowley has gone on to win just about every major regional Late Model race, including championship efforts in the NASCAR K&N Series, the Oxford 250 (twice), Bond Auto ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (twice), Thunder Road’s famous Milk Bowl, and recently he swept the triple 100 lap features in a very competitive field at the World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.

A joint announcement between the American Canadian Tour (ACT) and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) last November came as great news throughout the short track industry, particularly in the Northeast. Principals Tom Curley (ACT) and Tom Mayberry (PASS) decided that, after a decade of competing against each other in the region, it was time to re-energize the region’s full-fendered stock car racing competitors and their fans. They formed a working alliance for the 2015 season.

American Canadian Tour officials have announced a New Champions Program for the ACT U.S. Tour in 2015. The program is a revival of the old New Champions point standings from the former ACT Pro Stock Tour in the 1980s and early 1990s. Continue reading

Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA claimed his second win in two nights of ACT competition at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, FL on Monday, August 16. MacDonald followed up his Sunday night win with another trip to victory lane in the first leg of the American Racer Challenge Cup. His second win, however, didn’t come so easy. Continue reading

More than 300 guests celebrated the 2014 stock car racing season on Saturday, January 31, as Devil’s Bowl Speedway hosted the annual Banquet of Champions at the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, VT. 2014 American Canadian Tour (ACT) Champions Alex Labbe, (21 years old), of St-Albert, Quebec and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole), (25 years old), from Hudson, New Hampshire, have both been celebrated by their peers for their championship runs last season. They now lead twenty-nine (29) teams from eight (8) different states and the province of Quebec to the New Smyrna Speedway World Series of Asphalt Racing on Sunday-Tues, February 15-17, 2015.
