For the tradition-rich NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, each off season has historically brought little turnover among the ranks. Although ride swapping can occur with frequency, many of the drivers and teams remain the same from year to year. Things are a little different in 2015, however.

Keith Rocco of Berlin, Connecticut took command on lap-11 when early leader Kyle James, of Ashaway, Rhode Island, suffered engine trouble, and went on to win a crash-filled 100-lap race Sunday afternoon at Waterford, Speedbowl, Waterford, CT. The Valenti Modified Racing Series was part of the Fall Finale program at the historic race facility that completed its 64th year Sunday. It didn’t have the dramatic finish like last weeks race at Seekonk, but it had the same result, a large vocal crowd greeting the race winner, this time fan favorite 41-year veteran Dwight Jarvis, when he exited his race car. Jarvis had just won the annual Valenti Modified Racing Series sanctioned ‘Victor Johnson Memorial 100’ and the Monadnock Speedway crowd let him know they liked what they saw. Continue reading

With a new driver sitting atop the point standings and a roster full of competitors eager to get back to racing, the Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to action this Saturday night, August 9, when the series visits the famed Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut for the 7th annual Wings and Wheels race program.
