With a new driver sitting atop the point standings and a roster full of competitors eager to get back to racing, the Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to action this Saturday night, August 9, when the series visits the famed Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut for the 7th annual Wings and Wheels race program. The series has been idle since July 18.

The special open-wheel event features the NEMA Midgets, the winged ISMA Supermodifieds, the tracks SK and SK Light Modifieds, and the Valenti Modified Racing Series. The VMRS will race in a 100-lap green flag race. Justin Bonsignore takes a 1-point lead (363-362) over reigning champion Rowan Pennink \ to Waterford and the series 10th race of the year.

With only seven races to follow, the championship chase is really heating up with two-time champion, Chris Pasteryak, 9-points out of first place, and Todd Szegedy right behind. Richard Savary of Canton, a three-time winner this season, is also an expected entry. Woody Pitkat, recently appointed driver of the Kulessa Farms # 42, is another expected entry.

Veteran Charlie Pasteryak, Eric Goodale,Norman Wrenn and Millis hot shoe Tommy Barrett are all expected. Dave Etheridge, Anthony Nocella of Woburn, Mike Willis, Jr.and Max Zachem are also expected be at Waterford.

Practice commences at 2 p.m. for one hour. Qualifying begins at 5 p.m.. An autograph session will follow with feature races slated at 6:35 p.m. Saturday’s race is the VMRS second appearance this season. The series opened the season at Waterford on March 30.
