The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will see the return of one of the Northeast’s most accomplished drivers this coming season. Wayne Helliwell Jr., the 2012 and 2013 ACT Champion, recently stated that he will be competing full-time on the Tour in 2015.

Saturday Icebreaker action at Thompson offered several under card events
Moose Douton opened up the 2015 Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park with a win in the Limited Sportsman feature after patience paid off big dividends for the Waterford, Conn. driver. Douton didn’t know he won until after the race was completed. Other winners in NASCAR Whelen All American Series action were Tyler Hines in the Sunoco Modified Lite division and Scott Michalski in the Monster Mini Stock division. Roger Turbush won in the New England Truck Series, Scott Bigelow in the NEMA Light’s, and Scott Quinn in the Vintage Outlaw’s.
Big crowd turns out for Thompson Speedway’s Icebreaker
A full house of fans was on hand to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for Icebreaker weekend, and the racing couldn’t have been better. Doug Coby swept the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour action by winning the pole and backing it up with a dominating win in the Icebreaker 150. Celebrating victories in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series were Ryan Preece in the Sunoco Modified Series, Marc Curtis in the Late Model division, Scott Sundeen in the Limited Sportsman, and Eric Bourgeois in the Mini Stocks. Other winners included Dillon Moltz in the Granite State Pro Stock Series and Scott Quinn in the Vintage Outlaws.
Coby prepares to defend his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship at the Sizzler
Last season, Southington native Doug Coby captured his second career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship with 1 win, 9 top-5, and 12 top-10 finishes in the 13-race season. As Coby and the #2 Dunleavy Truck and Trailer Repair / Hex Performance Mike Smeriglio owned team prepare to defend the championship this season, they made an almost unprecedented move of changing both their chassis and engine. Justin Bonsignore will be a championship contender on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The 2014 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season was a breakthrough year for Justin Bonsignore. The West Islip, NY native doubled his career win total from 3 to 6 and was in the championship race with Doug Coby until several mechanical issues late in the season relegated him third in the final standings. Fast forward to the 2015 season and Bonsignore is ready to once again be a championship contender. To add to his busy schedule he will be pulling double duty at Stafford during Whelen Modified Tour events as he will pilot an Art Barry owned SK Modified® for the entire 2015 season.
Troy Talman and Mike Boehler team up for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2015
When the green flag falls on the 44th Annual NAPA Spring Sizzler this season, Oxford native Troy Talman will find himself making his Sizzler debut in one of the most recognizable rides on the Whelen Modified Tour. Talman teamed up with the #3 Boehler Family team, out of East Freetown, for the 2014 season ending race and that relationship has blossomed into a full-time ride for the 2015 season with sponsorship from Cape Cod Copper, Riverview Industries, and NAPA Ayer Auto Parts.
Joey Pole and Travis Stearns will compete in both the ACT and PASS races at OPS on April 18
One of the biggest seasons in American-Canadian Tour (ACT) history launches on Saturday, April 18 as part of the first ever doubleheader between the ACT Late Model stock cars and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models. More than 70 combined cars are expected at the Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME, and multiple ACT drivers will attempt to run both 150-lap events that afternoon.
NASCAR Whelen Tour Icebreaker at Thompson has few changes within the teams
For the tradition-rich NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, each off season has historically brought little turnover among the ranks. Although ride swapping can occur with frequency, many of the drivers and teams remain the same from year to year. Things are a little different in 2015, however.
Stafford Motor Speedway will hold a Legend’s Car National Qualifer
The 2015 season at Stafford Motor Speedway will mark the second season of weekly Legend Car competition around the track’s mini-mile. In addition Stafford Speedway Management is proud to announce that the Legend Cars feature during the season ending NAPA Auto Parts Fall Final Weekend on Oct. 3rd will serve as a Legends Car Asphalt Nationals Qualifier.
Gelinas looks for the 2015 Granite State Pro Stock Series crown starting at the Icebreaker
For “Lightning” Larry Gelinas racing is almost as important as breathing. The 30-plus-year veteran gets behind the wheel any chance he can. This year he’ll be chasing the 2015 crown in the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS), as well as throwing his name in the hat in the Late Model division at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
