Monadnock Speedway to host Valenti Modified Tour 100 on Sat., May 2

In less than two weeks, Monadnock Speedway will be back in action hosting the traditional Bond Auto Parts Spring Dash 100. The special event season opener was delayed by two weeks due to the extended winter and mud season in the Northeast. The event will feature the first race of the season for Valenti Modified Racing Series as they compete in 100 laps around the 1/4 mile high banked track.

In association with the recent Racer’s Expo in Marlboro, Kart Klash V went off without a problem at F1 Indoor Kart track in Braintree. Over 70 racing competitors participated in the event on that venues indoor country road course. They included drivers, crew, officials and fans from the entire spectrum of motor sports in New England and the northeast. The competitors came form the NASCAR Modified Tour, Valenti Modified Racing Series, NEMA Midgets,Mini Stocks, ISMA Super Modifieds, Dirt Midgets, PASS Tour, Star Speedway, Seekonk Speedway,Star Speedway, road and Kart racing, DIRT Sprint Cars, Monster Trucks, Late Models, Sport Trucks, Pro 4 Modifieds, New England Street Stock Tour, ACT Tour and Hudson Speedway. Officials from Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) – the famed 5/8-mile speedway in Connecticut’s quiet corner – released a creative and innovative seven (7) event schedule today, featuring twelve different touring series and sanctioning bodies, and boasting over $500,000 in posted awards. Two weekend events, and a five event Wednesday summer series – with four rain dates – make up the calendar. The schedule is highlighted by four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) events, two new Triple Crown Series, and significant enhancements to the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing. On Friday and Saturday, October 3-4, Seekonk Speedway will close out the 2014 racing season with the annual DAV Fall Classic. Headlining the weekend’s events will be the 100 lap Open Competition Pro Stock finale, with $5,000 going to the winner, with $350 to take the green. Continue reading

The snow is finally melted and Monadnock Speedway is set to welcome the veterans and rookies to the high banked 1/4 mile track in Southern NH. The speedway will officially open the gates for their annual Test and Tune session on Saturday, April 12 from Noon to 5 p.m.

This is an opportunity for all competitors to shake down their race machines from a very long winter, fill out registrations, purchase NASCAR licenses and tires prior to the season opener. The pit gates will open at 10 a.m. on the Test and Tune session. General Admission is free on the Test and Tune event where the fans can check out the 2014 competition.

The management is very excited for the season to come as the NASCAR feature division, the Sportsman Modifieds, has grown and is expected to be a full field weekly. There are at least five rookies joining the division along with new competitors coming from other tracks making Monadnock Speedway their home track. It will be a very challenging field, as new talent will join the already seasoned field of veterans. The other NASCAR division also is expected to see growth as quite a few Young Guns have moved up to the NASCAR divisional ranks.

The speedway has also announced a few changes for the 2014 season. The Lightning Stocks, Thunder Stocks and Young will now compete in heat races compared to drawing for feature starting positions as they have done in the past. This change will give all the competitors more track time while placing them in the regular race procedures as all the NASCAR divisions follow

The 2014 season opener is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 with racing at 5 p.m.. The traditional Bond Auto Parts 100 will feature the Valenti Modified Racing Series, all the speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All American Racing Series divisions along with the Pro 4 Modifieds. The pit gates will open at 11 a.m. with practice starting at 2 p.m..
