Kart Klash V at F1 Indoors in Braintree drew a field of 70 entries

In association with the recent Racer’s Expo in Marlboro, Kart Klash V went off without a problem at F1 Indoor Kart track in Braintree. Over 70 racing competitors participated in the event on that venues indoor country road course. They included drivers, crew, officials and fans from the entire spectrum of motor sports in New England and the northeast. The competitors came form the NASCAR Modified Tour, Valenti Modified Racing Series, NEMA Midgets,Mini Stocks, ISMA Super Modifieds, Dirt Midgets, PASS Tour, Star Speedway, Seekonk Speedway,Star Speedway, road and Kart racing, DIRT Sprint Cars, Monster Trucks, Late Models, Sport Trucks, Pro 4 Modifieds, New England Street Stock Tour, ACT Tour and Hudson Speedway.

There were several races and the entries were put into classes by weight. NEMA’s Erika Santos of Franklin won round 1 with Meg Cugni of Marshfield finishing fifth followed by Avery Stoehr of Lakeville. Jamie Falconi had the fastest time in that round. Corey Fanning took round 2 edging out Randy Cabral of Kingston while Easton’s Rob Richardi finished 11th. Dan Cugni of Marshfield came home the winner in round 3 while Canton’s Richard Savary was third. Ray Parent of Tiverton, RI, who was getting warmed up for the ACT Tour races at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida in a couple of weeks, came in fourth while East Bridgewater’s Anthony Marvuglio ended up ninth overall.

Tommy Lydon won round 4. Mike Horn of Ashland took round 5 with John Dumas of Quincy finishing a respectable fourth followed by his brother Steve of Brockton. Daryl Church, also of Brockton, was eighth. Holbrook’s Paul Lugelle, a NEMA midget driver, overhauled Round 6 with a win with Randolph’s Mark Chevous, a sports photographer and TV production and camera man, pulled off a third place.

Jamie Falconi won the 7th round while Avery Stoehr of Lakeville came in fifth with Meg Cugni of Marshfield next. Kingston’s Randy Cabral made up for his earlier second place with a win in Round 8 with Rob Richardi of Easton next. Marshfield’s Dan Cugni won again in Round 8 with Ray Parent taking a fourth and Anthony Marvuglio of E. Bridgewater next with Richard Savary taking seventh in that one. Tommy Lydon was another two time winnner in round 10. Erica Santos of Franklin beat her recent bride groom NASCAR Modified driver Woody Pitkat in Round 11.

Charlie Baldwin took the checkered flag first in Round 12 while Qunicy’s John Dumas cracked the top four. Daryl Church of Brockton edged his cross-town rival Steve Dumas finishing 6th and 7th. Jimmy Dixon won Round 13 while Paul Lugelle of Holbrook and Mark Chevious of Randolph were fourth and fifth.Jamie Falconi won round 14 edging out Erika Santos of Franklin while AveryStoehr of Lakeville cracked the top five followed by Marshfield’s Meg Cugni. Kingston’s Randy Cabral was pretty hot in round 15 and and was able to score another win with Easton’s Bob Richardi taking a fifth place. Anthony Marviuglio won the 16th Round with Ray Parent coming in third, Dan Cugni of Marshfield was fifth and Canton’s Richard Savary was next.

Tommy Lydon scored another win in Round 17. In Round 18. Charlie Baldwin edged out Quincy’s John Dumas with Brockton’s Steve Dumas coming in fourth while another Brockton resident Daryl Church came in seventh. Jimmy Dixon won the 19th Round with Paul Lugelle of Holbrook taking a third with sixth place going to Mark Chevous of Randolph. Tommy Lydon won the 20th and final Round over Randy Cabral of Kingston with East Bridgewater’s Anthony Marvuglio closing up the field with a sixth.

Rob Richardi of Easton recorded the fastest lap time of 00.19.899 with Randy Cabral turned the third fastest time of 00.19.945. Erica Santos had the eighth fastest time of 00.20.066, Ray Parent was 00.20.211, Dan Cugni posted 00.20.324, Richard Savary had a time of 00:20:354, Avery Stoehr was 00.20:436, Meg Cugni posted 00.20:608,John was 00:20.663, Steve Dumas had a time of 00:20:717, Paul Lugelle posted a time of 00:20:998, Daryl Church was 00:21:127, Mark Chevous was 00:00:21:297.
