Thrillin’ Dillon Moltz of Waterford, CT. became the newest winner for the Granite State Pro Stock Series on Sunday, which has seen 9 different winners in 9 races in the 2014 season, The Nutmeg State driver picked up the win at Star Speedway in the NH Classic 100. Moltz started on the pole in the 16 car field and led all 100 laps, en route to his win.
Moltz and Derek Griffith brought the field down and ran one-two until the first of three cautions came out on the second circuit, when Tom Carey Jr spun in the second turn.
Once back under way, point leader Matt Frahm moved underneath Griffith, after battling for several laps, took over the second position. Griffith settled into third with Larry Gelinas in fourth. The top of the field ran nose-to-tail until the second caution came out on lap 36. That’s when Bobby Cabral slid up against the wall in turn two.
Frahm held onto second on the restart with Griffith and Gelinas in tow. But the driver on the move was Brad Babb who started thirteenth on the grid. By the half-way mark Babb moved into the top five and settled in, about 6 car lengths behind Gelinas. Using lapped traffic to his advantage, Griffith moved past Frahm for second on lap 73.
The final caution of the event came out at the three-quarter mark when Adam Norton went up in smoke which ended his day.
Frahm got back into second on the restart and chased Moltz to the finish. Frahm came up a car length short at the checkers. Griffith, Babb and Gelinas rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Gelinas and Griffith.
