Humpy Wheeler without a doubt has what it takes to get NASCAR on the road to recovery because of vast experience with the Speedway Motor Sports, Inc. public company and manager of the Charlotte Motor Speedway for several decades. We don’t mean that Wheeler should just come into NASCAR as a consultant. We feel that Brian France has to go and Humpy Wheeler has to replace him. We also think that Humpy would be up for the challenge. He’s been on the shelf for a few years since he got dumped by Bruton Smith when he stood up to him just a week before his planned retirement. NASCAR’s problems of not selling tickets and dropping TV ratings is a situation that just has to be solved. Forget the excuses that all of sports world-wide are suffering with deficits due to a global ailing economy. Just because Brian France was able to get a huge increase over the previous contracts starting in 2015, it does not mean the problems are solved. That increase TV money is what is holding NASCAR together. But for how long? There’s a cliche in the rough and tumble business world. “Don’t tell me what you did for me yesterday. What are you going to do for me today,” say the captains of global industry. Continue reading

Is it just me or does Indy Car have a problem getting their advances out on the doings at Indianapolis?!? We kept looking at TV listings for Mother’s Day weekend particularly at a mysterious one called “Indy Grand Prix”. We knew that years ago Indianapolis Motor Speedway cut back on the amount of activity during the month of May because of the lack of interest (Read that as selling tickets). Continue reading
