Kyle Larson remains interested in a NASCAR comeback, though he said he hasn’t explored the options for a return to stock cars.
“Well, I’ve been so busy just racing pretty much every day of the week that I haven’t even had time to work on anything, but I would love an opportunity if it came,” he said during a recent interview with MRN Winged Nation (that was posted Tuesday to YouTube) about his impressive tear through dirt racing this summer. “But at the same time, I’m also having a ton of fun right now.”
Larson has focused solely on dirt racing since being indefinitely suspended by NASCAR and losing his ride at Chip Ganassi Racing for using a racial slur during an iRacing event in April.
, Artomobilia Officials Postpone Inaugural‘Revolanté: A Celebration of Revolutionary Automobiles,’ to 2021
Artomobilia Offering Alternative 2020 Event for Car Enthusiasts, the “Lemonade 10000,” August 29
INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, July 29, 2020 – In light of ongoing efforts to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the City of Carmel’s decision to cancel 2020 Artomobilia Weekend’s activities in downtown Carmel, officials from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and Artomobilia announced July 29 that the inaugural concours-style car show “Revolanté: A Celebration of Revolutionary Automobiles,” has been postponed to August 29, 2021.
Revolanté was set to debut August 30 during 2020 Artomobilia Weekend at The Bridgewater Club in Carmel, featuring approximately 100 high-end classic cars ranging from exquisite pre-war models to mid-century Indianapolis 500 winners to 1960s muscle and sports cars, plus late-20th century supercars.
All ticket sales were to directly benefit the IMS Museum’s educational and exhibit programming and restoration efforts. The Museum is a public non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in the infield of the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“Our team very much respects the decision of Carmel city officials to cancel not only Artomobilia, but a number of public events for the balance of 2020,” said Carmel Artomobilia Event Director John Leonard. “The IMS Museum team and all of our partners did a great job preparing for a spectacular Revolanté debut, with protocols in place given the ongoing COVID emergency. We will, however, take what has been set in motion and build an event for next year that will ‘wow’ the public and our participating car collectors alike.”
In the wake of the cancelation of Revolanté and Artomobilia’s other events in Carmel, Leonard and his team are preparing to take the hugely popular show on the road – literally. Given the “lemon” that car enthusiasts have received due to the show cancelation, Artomobilia is hosting the “Lemonade 10000” road rally on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The rally will start and end at the Clay Terrace outdoor mall in Carmel, taking a 77-mile path through the bucolic scenery and winding back roads of Indiana’s Hamilton, Madison and Boone counties. Like most museums and arts organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted revenues and finances for the IMS Museum. Donations are always welcomed and assist museum staff in preserving and sharing the glorious history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its events. At this time, your support is appreciated more than ever. To learn more about the many ways you can show your support – including memberships and our popular “Adopt-a-Car” program
About the IMS Museum: The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is home to one of the world’s premier motorsports and automobile collections, with interpretive emphasis on the Indianapolis 500 and its role as an American icon of sporting tradition and innovation.
Located inside the famed 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, the IMS Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which relies on the support of visitors, members, donors and corporate partners, who make possible our daily operations, exhibits, educational programming, and restoration and preservation initiatives.
Due to mounting concerns over the health and economic effects of COVID-19, Econn Motorsports announced today they are not moving forward with the traditional Bud 150 which had been scheduled for August 19th at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. An open practice previously scheduled for August 5th has also been canceled. The recent outbreaks of COVID-19 cases associated with professional sporting events was chief among the reasons for the decision.
“We had initially thought that the virus would be of minimal concern by now, but the numbers are still very concerning”, said Terry Eames of Econn Motorsports. “We remain committed to keeping oval track racing alive at Thompson and will continue to work with the Hoenig family about the possibility of events later in the year”, Eames added.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series heads to one of the original tracks on the schedule as they make their first and possibly only visit to the quarter mile bull ring Friday August first. The Winchester NH oval was one of the first facilities to sign on with the then fledgling series and has been a staple ever since.
Mike O’Sullivan picked up his only win of the 2019 campaign at the tricky high banked oval and returns, hoping to turn his 2020 season around. The two time series champion scored a top five finish at the second round at Claremont but has struggled to get the finishes hes expects in his other two starts.
DJ Shaw is expected to compete this weekend at a track where the win has eluded him thus far. Shaw has had the dominant car in recent events at the Monadnock high banks but bad luck has derailed his efforts. Although the Precision JLM team has yet to file an entry, they have stated that they intend to race.
Ray Christian III leads the way in the 2020 point standings but only by fourteen points over Joey Polewarczyk. Angelo Belsito sits twenty four markers back on the heels of two straight wins. All three will take their fight to Monadnock where none of the three have ever won and Christian III is the only one to ever race there.
Rookie Competitors Casey Call and Cody Leblanc both plan to attend this event as they battle for rookie of the year honors along with Ryan Lineham. All three have posted solid finishes this year and look to continue to learn at a track that is traditionally tough on rookies. Lineham has yet to officially enter but has stated he intends to be there.
Josh King is a former winner at Monadnock and had a very successful test at the quarter mile bull ring before kicking off his season. King looks to get back to victory lane for the first time since 2017 at the track closest to his Vernon Vt shop and he’ll try to do it in a brand new race car. King has run the car twice now and hopes he has all the kinks worked out of it.
Barry Gray is a former Pro Stock champion at both the track and with the series. Gray missed the most recent event at Claremont Motorsports Park to concentrate on getting his car right for one of his best tracks. He looks to get back to a victory lane he is very familiar with.
Other entries include Kevin Folan, Mike Mitchell and and Jake Matheson. Folan and Mitchell are veteran competitors and Matheson is in his second year out of the legends car ranks. All three have raced at Monadnock previously and look for strong runs.
Post time for this event will be at 6:00pm and the GSPSS will be joined by the Monadnock Speedway weekly racing divisions.
August 15 the series heads for Beach Ridge Speedway in Scarborough Maine for a 150 lap affair. This will be the first ever visit to the coastal speedway and the first time the the traveling pro stockers have raced in the state of Maine in several years.
