Join Us at Andretti Autosport for the Final IMS Museum ‘Shop Tour Series’ of 2019

The Morning Tour Sold Out in 3 Hours; RSVP for the Afternoon Tour Today!INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday,

Oct. 29, 2019 – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum’s popular Shop Tour Series wraps up the 2019 schedule with a visit to one of the most successful and storied teams of modern IndyCar Series racing: Andretti Autosport, on Thursday, Nov. 21.

The VIP IMS Museum members-only tour, scheduled for the morning, sold out just three hours after opening on Oct. 29. However, seats remain available for the afternoon tour (1:30-4 p.m. ET), which is open to current IMS Museum members and future members.

A perennial powerhouse in the NTT IndyCar Series and a five-time Indianapolis 500-winning franchise, Andretti Autosport is led by Michael Andretti, the 1991 CART IndyCar series champion and 1984 Indianapolis 500 co-rookie of the year. He’s the father of current NTT IndyCar Series driver Marco Andretti and the son of 1969 “500” winner Mario Andretti.

After a distinguished driving career that saw him nearly win the “500” several times, Michael has, as a car owner, enjoyed the traditional sip of milk in Victory Circle with drivers Dan Wheldon (2005), Dario Franchitti (2007), Ryan Hunter-Reay (2014), Alexander Rossi (2016) and Takuma Sato (2017).

The team has earned four NTT IndyCar Series championships, and Andretti Autosport also fields teams in the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship, the Pirelli GT4 Americas series, ABB FIA Formula-E Championship, and the Australian Supercar Championship.

Adrien Paradis, III Wins R.A.D. Auto Machine Street Stock Rookie of the Year Honors at Stafford Speedway

(Stafford Springs, CT)—After running the Sportsman division at Waterford from 2016-2018, Plainville, CT native Adrien Paradis, III came to Stafford for 2019 to try his hand in the Street Stock division.  The driver of the #19 CSB Communications Chevrolet had never previously raced at Stafford but proved that lack of experience wouldn’t be an issue recording a 7th place finish in his first start.  From there, Paradis finished all but one of this season’s 20 Street Stock races in the top-10, cruising to R.A.D. Auto Machine Rookie of the Year honors over Marvin Minkler.

“I missed out on winning rookie of the year when I first started racing at Waterford, so that was one of our main goals for the season,” said Paradis.  “It’s a pretty cool feeling.  I think we went above and beyond our expectations for this season, especially being our first year at Stafford.  Originally we wanted to finish in the top-10 in points and we ended up finishing fifth.  We certainly would have liked to be on the podium a little more than we were, but Stafford is a tough track and it was a totally different driving style than what I was used to, so there was a lot of learning on my part this year.  I really have to thank my entire crew, my parents, Mike Davis, Joe Brockett, and I wouldn’t have been able to do anything without my sponsors CSB Communications, Midstate Air Compressor, KCM, Auto Glass Specialists, and East Coast Packaging.”

With having never previously raced at Stafford, getting to grips with the Stafford half-mile layout was Paradi’s biggest challenge during his rookie campaign.  Paradis had to adjust from the tight confines of Waterford to deal with the longer straightaways at Stafford. In addition to a different track layout the driver of the #19 car had to learn how to race with a restrictor plate which has been used for years in Stafford’s Street Stock and Dare Stock division. After running one full season with a restrictor plate, Paradis may have an advantage entering 2020, as the restrictor plate has been removed from the Street Stock rulebook.

“I think the driving style was the biggest thing for me to adapt to this season,” said Paradis.  “At Waterford, you can drive a lot deeper into the corners where at Stafford you have to back the corner up and let the car roll for a lot longer.  I was overdriving the car into the corners and with the restrictor plate that really hurt us coming off the corner.  With the restrictor plate on the car, any little mistake you make gets amplified because you don’t have the power to overcome it.  I can’t wait for next season with the restrictor plates coming off the cars.”

Paradis’ best finish this season was a third place finish on August 23, his lone podium finish of the season.  With a full season’s worth of experience under his belt, Paradis is excited to get back on track in 2020 and fight for more podium finishes and his first career win.

“I think we’ll be ahead of the game for the start of next season,” said Paradis.  “We changed our setup to try a couple different things at the end of the season to try to get ready for next season and see how the car would react.  Hopefully we can be up front every week and put the car in victory lane.  Our main goal is going to be to win a race or two next season.  I think we have things figured out for the most part and I have a great setup guy so it’s all going to come down to me as the driver.  Obviously I’d love to win the championship next year but if we can go a couple spots better than we were this year and finish in the top-3 in points, that would be good for us.”

With Paradis establishing that he can be a consistent runner this season with 19 top-10 finishes in 20 starts, he will be looking to carry over his consistency to next season and combine his consistency with his year of experience at Stafford to be front runner every week.

“This season was awesome for us,” said Paradis.  “We were pretty fast right off the trailer at the first race and we managed to have consistent finishes with no major wrecks that caused damage to the car.  I think we showed this year that consistent finishes will keep you towards the top and consistency along with winning some races is what is going to win the championship.”

Paradis will officially be crowned the 2019 Street Stock R.A.D. Auto Machine Rookie of the Year at the 50th Annual Stafford Speedway Champion’s Awards Banquet, scheduled for Friday, November 15 at Maneeley’s in South Windsor.  Tickets to the awards banquet are $50 and are on sale now.  Tickets can be ordered by calling the track at 860-684-2783 or they can be ordered online at www.staffordspeedway.com.

RUTLAND, Vt. – The on-track action has ended, but the 2019 stock car racing season still has one more event remaining: The Banquet of Champions. Track champions will officially be crowned in each Devil’s Bowl Speedway division, led by Kenny Tremont Jr., who earned his record-extending 10th Devil’s Bowl title in the Pepsi Sportsman Modified class.  Fourth-generation driver Bobby Hackel will collect the honors for his first KOD Crate Modified Series championship.

Four first-time Devil’s Bowl champions will also walk across the stage with Johnny Bruno in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman division, Scott FitzGerald in the Super Stocks, Craig Kirby in the Mini Stocks, and rookie Evan Roberts in the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprints.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway has named a total of 39 nominees for its annual Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver awards.  Up to six drivers in each of the five weekly divisions are nominated by track officials, with the winning drivers decided by a vote of their peers.  The Sportsmanship Award goes to a driver who displays a consistent commitment to competitiveness, fairness, and respect.  The Most Improved Driver Award is given to someone in who has made noticeable progress in their on-track competitiveness.

Seventeen of the 39 drivers are nominated in both categories for their respective divisions including Sportsman Modified drivers Tanner Siemons, Marty Kelly III, and 2019 Rookie of the Year Joey Roberts.

DON HOENIG’S 48TH ANNUAL FLEA MARKET/SWAP MEET RETURNS TO THOMPSON SPEEDWAY MOTORSPORTS PARK THIS WEEKEND

Don Hoenigs Flea Market is the largest event of it’s kind in New England motorsports.

By Kyle Souza, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park

THOMPSON, Conn. — Back in 1971, family favorite Willy Wonka The Chocolate Factory was released as a movie. In that same year, Don Hoenig’s original flea market and swap meet took place at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut.

The event has grown to the largest automotive Swap Meet in the entire Northeast, where race teams, fans and more come together for three straight days. The 48th annual Flea Market and Swap Meet returns to Thompson this weekend, November 1-3, and is a can’t miss event.

You can find race cars for sale, tools, tires, and even vendors that will have something completely outside of racing – like a winter jacket or pair of shoes. The event is truly a one-of-a-kind for anyone in the Northeast to head into the cold winter months with a perfect purchase. Race teams could assemble most of a car by selecting different parts from different vendors, while race fans might even be able to purchase a throwback t-shirt.

“The Swap Meet is one of the most important events we have at Thompson each year,” Terry Eames, the General Manager of Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, said. “We are looking forward to welcoming vendors and fans from across the Northeast for a full weekend.”

Any vendors who wish to attend the Swap Meet should plan for spots that are 30 feet long by 15 feet wide. Vendors may elect to setup on Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for a charge of $25 extra per space, which will allot vendors the opportunity to get preferred choice on parking. On Saturday and Sunday, spaces vendor registration opens at 5 a.m., and is in a first-come, first-serve format.

Vendor passes for Saturday and Sunday only are $75, while those who show on Friday will pay a total of $100 for three days.

Anyone coming to the event as a fan can enter for a general admission price of $12 per day, meaning it will cost just $36 for a total of three days. If fans show up for just one day, they will only be charged the $12 price. Any kids 12 and under are free.

General admission is open from 10-8 p.m. on Friday, 7-5 p.m. on Saturday and 7-5 p.m. on Sunday.
