LOUDON, N.H. – It wasn’t the last September NASCAR race weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, as Executive Vice President and General Manager David McGrath announced on Sept. 22 the debut of the short track extravaganza for 2018. It was the final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series weekend in September, though, and it proved to be a wonderful finish for the New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and more than 60 volunteer groups, which combined to raise more than $295,000.
All told for 2017, the SCC’s New Hampshire Chapter and volunteer organizations raised more than $576,000.
The N.H. Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities held six exclusive events over the course of the week, including the Laps for Charity, the Fan Jam Appreciation Party, the Charity Clay Shoot presented by the NRA Foundation, helicopter rides, the Wicked Good Live Auction, and the Red Bucket Brigade. These events, plus miscellaneous donations, helped the SCC raise more than $143,000 for local children’s charities and groups. Combined with July’s total, the New Hampshire Chapter of SCC raised more than $283,000.
“The gracious generosity of our NASCAR fans never ceases to amaze me and they stepped up once again in a big way over the September NASCAR race weekend,” said Cheryl LaPrade, director of SCC’s NH Chapter. “The money raised from the clay shoot to the Wicked Good Live Auction to the Red Bucket Brigade will be able to help so many children in this region. This was an amazing final season for me and I look forward to seeing this program continue to grow with Hillarie Scott taking over at the helm.”
Teams of impassioned fundraising groups also help New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the course of its major event weekends. From grandstand cleaning to landscaping to parking, these volunteer groups help make the speedway look its best from start to finish. In return, the speedway donates money to each group, which goes toward the nonprofit organization of which they represent.
More than 60 volunteer organizations were represented over the September NASCAR race weekend, and from their hard work and dedication, more than $152,000 in revenue was generated – $293,000 when you include July’s numbers.
