THOMPSON, CT – Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park held the final of three Summer Road Race Series events on Sunday August 27. Jordan O’Brien won both races in the double feature event bringing him to three wins for the Midstate Site Development Legends Series this season. Chris Barry picked up both the overall and Small Bore wins in the Sports Car group. Darius Trinka took top honors in the Big Bore group of the event.
Noah Korner and Jordan O’Brien led the field to the green flag with Bob Kilpatrick, who raced on the original road course at TSMP in the 1950’s and 60’s, in the pace car setting up the field. On the start Teddy Hodgdon tested for the second spot but by turn 6 was brought back to fifth. The first caution also came out on the first lap as No. 56 Derek Debbis spun out at turn 2 and No. 44 Andrew Quealy spun out going into turn 9. On the restart No. 27 Glenn Korner took the second spot over O’Brien but lost it on lap 3. O’Brien would battle it out with Noah Korner and eventually take the lead on lap 11 winning the race and taking the INEX Legends National Qualifier spot. Hodgdon finished second with Noah Korner capturing the final podium position.
All sports car entrants participated in a Libre Race which is when the cars were released in a staggered fashion to allow for unequally matched cars to perform at their personal best and finish the race in a competitive fashion. Chris Barry, who was released after several minutes, ended up passing Peter Tonelli on the penultimate circuit to capture his second victory at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the Small Bore class and Darius Trinka took the Big Bore win as well in fourth overall.
Jordan O’Brien and Teddy Hodgdon, led the field to the green flag for the MSD Legends second feature of the day. Within the first couple of laps Noah Korner worked his way up to first. Teddy Hodgdon and Jordan O’Brien battled it out for the second spot until O’Brien finally overtook Hodgdon on lap 5 and kept it close going into the final lap. At the line, O’Brien overcame Korner by only 0.025 of a second clenching his second win of the day and third of the year closing out the season. Noah Korner finished in second and Teddy Hodgdon followed in third.
