When the Valenti Modified Racing Series visits New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway this weekend, 19-year old Tommy Barrett of Millis, Mass, looks to do something never done before, and win his third consecutive ‘Oktoberfest 100’ when the series competes in the 30th annual Oktoberfest weekend on Saturday and Sunday,
All eyes will be on Barrett and the top two point men in the series standings, Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, New York and reigning champion Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Bonsignore has a slim 5-point lead over Pennink entering the Lee race. He finished fifth at last weekends race at Waterford, CT with Pennink sixth.
Chris Pasteryak of Jewett City, CT is currently third in the standings and Richard Savary of Canton is now fourth. All are expected entries for the holiday weekend event. Pasteryak is a former winner at Lee. Savary won there in June.
Additional expected entries include three-time Lee winner and all-time series winner Kirk Alexander of W.Swanzey, NH as is former Lee winners Steve Masse of Bellingham and Andy Seuss of Hampstead, NH.
Mr. Rooter Rookie of the Year candidate Mike Willis Jr. of Grantham, NH is an expected along with Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT. Former Champion Dwight Jarvis of Ascutney, VT is also entered.
Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday starting at 12 noon. Sunday’s feature race is scheduled fifth in the running order. Post time is at 1 p.m.
