The countdown to a busy month of racing in Florida is starting to wind down, with only 11 days remaining until the first of nine nights of racing for the 54th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway. As the anticipation grows, so too are the entry lists for the all of the divisions that will be in action during those nine nights.
The mighty Tour-type Modifieds are shaping to boast another tremendous field of racers, as they have the past few years. Once again, the current entry list also shows great representation from up and down the east coast.
Two champions from New England have added their names to the list: former Modified Racing Series champion Anthony Nocella from Massachusetts, as well as 2019 Claremont Motorsports Park Modified champion Brian Robie, who will be making the drive from New Hampshire to Florida for the first time in his career.
Former World Series race winners Patrick Emerling, Jimmy Zacharias and Tyler Rypkema,, as well as Tyler’s father Dean Rypkema, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winner Craig Lutz, and Brad Van Houten are all set to head down Interstate 95 towards New Smyrna Speedway.
An already impressive lineup from New Jersey has received another boost from the likes of Anthony Sesely, Rich Parker, and Joe DeGracia.
From down south, Kyle Ebersole will make the trip from Mooresville, North Carolina, while Senoia, Georgia’s Bubba Pollard makes his highly anticipated Tour-type Modified debut driving for NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece.
The Super Late Models are also receiving a boost from the cold north, as familiar snowbird Todd Stone heads south once again. Austin MacDonald will make his second trip to the Sunshine State from Nova Scotia. From the Upper Midwest, Brad Kassow, Justin Mondeik and Jesse Love add to the Wisconsin roster, while Sammy Smith reps the State of Iowa.
A former World Series champion with Northern ties, now living in North Carolina will return once again, as Ryan Moore will wheel his No. 74. Meanwhile, the home state roster sees the addition of Anthony Sergi and Doug Elliott.
These drivers and so many more will be gunning for race wins night after night at the World Series starting on Friday, February 7.
