Wentworh, NH.  Si Allen reached an agreement to sell Legion Speedway to racer and Wingless Auto Club founder Dan Browne.  A purchase and sale agreement has been signed and the deal is expected to close on September 25.  Sale price and financial details have not been disclosed.

Allen, a former Sprint Cars of New England Champion who also competed in Pro Stocks at Westboro Speedway in MA  and Modifieds at Stafford and Thompson, both in Conn., was pleased that Bowne was the buyer.

“I bought the track in 2012 because it was becoming obvious that if I didn’t, nobody else was interested in it as a race track and the land would have been available for development,” Allen told Area Auto racing News

“We’ve already lost too many race tracks and I didn’t want that to happen to Legion.  Dan has been involved with the track in a number of capacities off and on for a long time and I know he cares as much as I do about keeping it open as race track.Dean and Jane Hanson have done a great job operating it for the last  three years and I’m great full to them for that.”

“This is going to be a whole new adventure for me,” Bowne told AARN,  “Even though I first started working there nearly 18 years ago and I’ve seen it with a number of owners  and operators. After the closing, I plan to meet with all of the stockholders to see what the would like to happen. I have some ideas of my own, but I want to listen to my customers first.  People have suggested that I’m doing this because I have an air bubble between my ears and maybe they are right.  I just know that I want to get started and have a good time doing it.”
