New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced on Friday that Whelen Engineering, a leader in the emergency warning industry, will serve as the entitlement sponsor for the fourth annual Whelen Modified All-Star Shootout on Friday, July 14. The 40-lap invitational event will feature current and past champions from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

The Whelen Modified All-Star Shootout has the reputation of being one of the best race spectacles in America, featuring edge-of-your-seat excitement and heart-pounding bumper-to-bumper action from start to finish. Whelen sponsored the inaugural shootout back in 2014 and has been the sponsor for the Whelen Modified Tour since 2005.

“Over the better part of the last decade, Whelen has become synonymous with modified racing and providing incomparable safety equipment in motorsports,” said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “Much like our fan base, we know the passion Whelen has for modified racing. We are thrilled to welcome them back into the fold for one of the most exciting races of the season.”

For more than 25 years Whelen has supported NASCAR and its grassroots racing series. A privately-owned company that began in 1952, Whelen is in its 13th year as the title sponsor of the Whelen Modified Tour, the longest-running series in NASCAR. With New England-based factories in Charlestown, N.H. and Chester, Conn., Whelen is recognized as the only United States manufacturer of emergency warning equipment to still fabricate its products entirely in the U.S.

“Whelen is grateful for the opportunity to be the entitlement sponsor of the Whelen Modified All-Star Shootout again,” said Phil Kurze, vice president of motorsports for Whelen. “New Hampshire Motor Speedway is considered to be our big home track and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is a fan favorite series. Nose-to-tail, lap after lap excitement will certainly be a great way to kick off a spectacular weekend of racing.  As Whelen products are ‘trusted to perform’, everyone can be assured that the field of modifieds for this event can be trusted to perform.”

The Whelen Modified All-Star Shootout will drop the green flag at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, July 14. It will be followed by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying for the New Hampshire 301.

In addition to the Whelen Modified All-Star Shootout, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will also run its traditional 100-lap point event, the Nor’easter 100, at 1:00 p.m. to kick-off a Tripleheader Saturday of racing on July 15. It will be followed by the NASCAR XFINITY Series Lakes Region 200 at 4:00 and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East United Site Services 70 at 6:30.

The 2017 season is here and it’s going to be the biggest and best yet at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. ABOUT WHELEN
Whelen Engineering is America’s leading emergency warning company, founded in Connecticut in 1952 with the invention of the first rotating beacon light for aircrafts. These beacons rapidly earned a remarkable reputation for durability and quality, and Whelen soon grew to provide a magnetic mounted beacon used by the automotive industry.

More than sixty years later, Whelen designs and manufactures high quality audio and visual warning equipment for automotive, aviation, and mass notification industries worldwide. With two state-of-the-art facilities in Chester, Connecticut and Charlestown, New Hampshire covering over 1,000,000 square feet in total, Whelen is the nation’s only manufacturer of emergency warning equipment to still construct its products entirely in the United States.

Whelen embodies the best of American creativity, giving customers the most advanced products with the same durability and quality shown in the original 1952 rotating aircraft beacon. Whelen products are proudly designed, manufactured, and assembled in the U.S.A.
