This weekend’s D. Anthony Venditti  Memorial at Seekonk Speedway has been rescheduled due to the predicted rain forecast.  The new dates will be Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m. The Friday night divisions include SYRA Mini Cups, Pure Stocks, Sport 4’s and Legends.  Saturday afternoon’s Open Competition divisions will include Pro Stock 150 paying $ 5,000 to the winner, Late Model 50, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks.  Because there are so many special events scheduled during September and October in  New England, the dates that Seekonk  chose were the only ones available.

With the 2016 point championships complete, the DAV format traditionally runs an Open Competition program.  Among the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series track champions are Tom Scully, Jr. Pro Stocks, Dylan Estrela Late Models, Street Stocks Scott Breneau, Sport Trucks Mike Cavallaro, Legends Jake Johnson, Sport 4’s Mike Bellenger, Pure Stocks Andrew Kun, SYRA 750 Luke LeBrun and SYRA.

Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut has not cancelled it’s Fall Final season-ending event on the half-mile track yet. Qualifying is set for today, Saturday, October 3 and all features on Sunday, October 4 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as well as the all of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series divisions. Post time both days will be at noon. Long Island’s Justin Bonsignore’s late season surge now has his sights set on winning the 2016 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and this weekend’s NAPA Fall Final will play a significant role in the outcome.

Elsewhere in southern New England, Little T, a 1/10 mile paved track, in Thompson, Connecticut will wrap up the USAC Quarter Midget 2016 racing season this weekend provided the weather co-operates.  It’s a two-day event starting today, Saturday, October 1 and tomorrow, Sunday, October 2. The Capeway Rovers in Middleborough have a motoX event scheduled for Sunday, October 2 starting at 9 a.m. Hudson Speedway insouthern NH offers a busy stock car program on Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m.

Today, Saturday, October 1 is the 15th Annual Pines Speedway Reunion which will be held at the Town Hall complex in Groveland, a section of Haverhill.  The organizers expect over 40 restored vintage race cars as well as restored antique and custom street cars. A DJ will be on hand with 50’s and 60’s music.  It will go rain or shine.
