The Granite State Pro Stocks shared the bill on Super-Modified Classic night at the Star Speedway in Epping, NH.

Double features were on tap at Star Speedway on Saturday night

Double features were on tap for the Autism Awareness 350 Supers on Saturday night at the storied Star Speedway quarter-mile, and after the dust settled and the final finishing orders were set, Auburn’s Matt Seavey came out on top, both for the night, and in the season standings.

Not only did Seavey post a pair of top finishes for the night, he moved into a solid points lead as a result, with the end of the season nearly in sight. The first main saw Seavey followed by Steve Douphily, Joey Scanlon of Salem, Mike Humphrey and Richard Humphrey, while the second feature found Raymond’s Mike Keddy, Scanlon, Mike Humphrey, and Lance Barthelemy of Fremont rounding out the top five.

Lowell, MA veteran Chuck Dehney posted his second win of the season in the Outlaw Late Models, and was greeted by longtime crew chief Brian Gagnon for the winner’s circle festivities. Two-time 2016 winner “Gentleman” George Baldwin of Lowell checkered second, with Joey Ventrillo of Methuen, MA, former champ Ron Bolduc of Plaistow, and Frank Mirabito finishing up the top five.

The Woody’s Auto Strictly Stocks put on another action-packed feature event, with 2015 Roadrunner champion Justin Storace finally breaking the ice and collecting his first career Strictly Stock checkered flag aboard the J.R. Filippone machine when the checkers waved.

Steve Douphinette tightened up the oh-so-close #78 vs. #78 battle for the 2016 championship with a runner-up finish, while fan favorite Michele Fushpanski took down a well-deserved podium result in the third spot with the sharp L & W Auto Repair-sponsored #1% Camaro.

Veteran Jim Storace of Kingston grabbed fourth, with the other #78, John Cashman of Danvers, MA coming home fifth. Sixth through tenth went to Russ Douphinette of Groveland, MA, rookie Tom Thibeault, Bobby Bouchard, Charlie Baldwin, and Salem’s Kenny “Caveman” Scott.

Points leader Paul Wainwright continued to lead the way in Roadrunner action, capturing yet another checkered flag that will do nothing but help his 2016 championship effort. Wainwright has a less than comfortable lead in that points battle, with three races left in the 2016 points season.

Third-generation racer Melinda McCarthy put in a solid runner-up run in her immaculate #30 Mustang, followed by Leon Keniston, Justin Faford, and “Flyin’ Brian” Parker.

Nathan Jones scored the win in the Grand Enduro portion of the program over E.J. Flannigan, while Jon Fultz picked up the checkers in the 4-cylinder Enduro.

The late-season action heats up at Star next Saturday, September 3, with the sixth annual running of the “Big John” DiBurro Memorial for the Outlaw Late Models, along with the final points round of the MLM Diagnostic Services Fast 40 series for the Strictly Stocks with plenty of bonus money on the line.

The Chase Excavation Roadrunners will be running twin 20-lappers, the Northeast Classic Lites will be in for another crowd-pleasing feature event, and the Top Gun Six Shooters will see action as well. For more information on this or any other upcoming event (the 51st annual running of the International Supermodified Association (ISMA) Star Classic is just a week later.
