US Legends cars can adapt to either ovals or road courses

Legend race carsThe US Legends cars are quickly becoming a fan favorite on the 1.7-mile road course at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.  Those race cars are manufactured by Speedway Motorsports (SMI) on a production line in Charlotte, NC.  Tracks all over North America host those Yamaha powered race cars on road courses, paved short tracks both dirt and paved surfaces.

Last time the Midstate Site Development (MSD) Legends raced was on April 29 at the Icebreaker, Road Race Style. Up and coming driver Noah Korner swept both races. He will be looking to carry his momentum into this weekend’s event, which is presented by 860 Motorsports.

The Central Connecticut State University construction management major currently sits atop the point standings, but only by a small margin. Maine driver, Jordan O’Brien, registered a pair of second place finishes at the Series’ opening event, and is looking to overcome a slim six point margin.  With points being awarded for qualifying, and a three point position differential, O’Brien could easily pull himself to even with Korner.

Another challenger to watch for is defending World Champion, Shaun Buffington. The veteran Legend racer fell victim to an ill-handling race car in the first race and an engine failure in the second.  He rebounded by winning on New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s road course, but suffered a second engine failure last Saturday night on their oval. Buffington will have to turn his season around quickly if he is to challenge for the championship. He currently sits fifth in the standings, 29 points behind Korner.
