Monadnock Speedway will get the 2016 racing season underway this Saturday night, April 30.

Most championship nights at the end of the regular season has a lot of tension. It was no exception at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

This Saturday, April 30th, the mountains of Southern NH will be echoing the sound of the mighty tour type modified engines as the Valenti Modified Racing Series will highlight the 2016 season opener at Monadnock Speedway. The high banked ¼ mile track will host six exciting race divisions in addition to the Valenti Modified Racing Series including the Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Lightning Stocks and Young Guns.

This past Saturday, the speedway held their annual test and tune session where a large attendance of Valenti Modified Racing Series teams and the speedway’s feature NASCAR division Sportsman Modified competitors took to the track to shake down their open wheel race machines.  The Sportsman Modified teams will see a rise in new competition as new teams registered to compete in the very popular weekly division. Some of the new competitor who were present were Mike Willis Jr, Frank Hirt III, Geoff Rollins and Cameron Sontag. The track’s other weekly divisions also took advantage of the practice session.

A new crop Young Gun competitors (ages 12-15) were also in attendance to learn their way around the track before their big debut next Saturday.  The new group seemed very excited and a bit nervous however did very well in their session and track management looks forward to seeing their growth in competition throughout the season.
