OTB Promotions – a new motorsports promotions company – has announced a second event has been added to its 2015 calendar. The ICEBREAKER, Road Race Style, is slated for Friday, April 24 – Saturday, April 25 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. It will begin the local grassroots sports car racing season.

The two-day event, open to all SCCA, NASA, PCA and BMWCCA licensed drivers, offers a robust format, featuring practice, qualifying, and two races, designed to bring the drivers out of their winter hibernation.

“This is not a time trial or just an open practice- this is the first opportunity of the season to race with a format providing much more track time than is typical,” long-time road racer and OTB President, Lou Gingerella, explained. “This is the time to get out and race after a long winter.”

Nearly six hours of practice time, as well as a qualifying session, are spread out across five run groups on Friday. Saturday will afford the drivers one more brief practice session for final tuning of their cars before the first of two races later in the day. The five run groups are comprised of 33 different types of sports cars, ranging from BMW to Mazda to Porsche and Chevrolet.

This event is unique not only in regards to the amount of track time it affords, and its inclusion of many different types of cars, but also in its affordability. Early bird registration, which will begin February 15, for the ICEBREAKER, Road Race Style, will only be $275. Registration following February 15, but before April 15 will be $295, and on-site registration for the event will be $325.

“We have put a lot of work into the format of this event, providing lots of track time for all groups, affordability, and including as many different makes and models of cars as we could,” Executive Vice President, Josh Vanada, remarked. “With this being the first race event of the season, it is a great opportunity for drivers to come out and enjoy a non-points, stress-free, fun event.”

The ICEBREAKER, Road Race Style is the second event to be announced OTB Promotions. The innovative motor sports event promotions start up announced last week that they will organize the first stock car road race on the newly renovated Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park road course: the Stock Car Road Race Challenge on Fri., Sept. 11 and Sat., Sept., 12.
