We took in the Bettencourt Honda Suzuki SuperX at the Marshfield Fair. There were a lot of riders there from 8 year old kids to the old pros in their mid 40’s. In the 50 cc and over Owen Covell aboard a Cob of Plymouth took that class while Matthew Will of Halifax won the 50 cc on his KTM. Larry Fortin came all the way up from Tolland, CT to take the 65cc A/B. In the Lite Pros, Robert Marshall of Stow took that class on his KTM while Robert Marshall got to victory lane and aboard his Kawasaki.
Kyle Murdoch of Winchendon was able to power his Yamaha to win in the 85cc class. In the Amature X Erik P. Burns of E. Bridgewater scored a win in that class on a Suzuki. Michael T. Shea of Stafford, CT pulled off the Lites Amature event aboard his Kawasaki
In the Open Amature division Jake Sheinis of Carver rode his Kawsaki over the finish line while Jared Bucher of Halfiax did the same in the Super Mini class.
We ran into Keith Johnson who currently resides in Carver. He was racing in the Pro Class after retiring in 2006. He’s currently a Kawasaki Team Trainer since 2007. He even did the Senior Tour for Kawasaki. He’s also a MX instructor. “I teach young kids getting started on Tuesdays at the Capeway Rovers helping them climb the MX ladder system. Two years ago started a fitness center called Fitworx. He’s got two locations one in Pembroke and another in Weymouth. He expects to open another one in Easton soon. He was a runner-up in his class at Marshfield.
We got to talk to Robby Marshall who won the Lites Pro on a KTM. He also races in the Pro 450 and 250 classes. He told us that he’s been doing MotoX his whole life as well as some Off Road competition. He’s been doing the fair circuit around the country.He’s also past champion. He and his family build and upgrade various MX tracks in New England and elsewhere. His family owns and operates the Crow Hill MX venue in Spencer.”I think that it’s just great that Bettencourt Honda Suzuki in W. Bridgewater put up the $4,000 for the Pro race every year.
Another Pro Rider in the MX Pro class is Jason Brooks of Niantic, CT. He’s 22-years old and is the owner of a home remodeling business and races in the Pro classes since 2010. He’s also 2014 NESC champion in the 450 Pro class and also won the 250 Pro title in NESC in 2011.
Dighton’s John Borrello of Dighton has been racing in the 250 Pro Class for about 13hears. In 2012 he won the NESC 250 championship. Abington High school grad Zach Johnson and has been racing in the 250 class and won the 250 Expert title this year. Pat Delowey from Rochester is 18 years old and has been racing for ten years.
