June 3: First Friday Book Chat at the MPL

Come and discuss  interesting books with new friends!  On Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m., Library Director Will Adamczyk holds the “First Friday Book Chat with Will.” Meet him in the lower level Conference Room of the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton for very enjoyable conversations.

June 8 and June 22: Drop-in Writers’ Clinic with Betty Siegel at the MPL

Writers, both aspiring and seasoned, a new writing clinic starts in June! The “Drop-in Writing Workshop with Betty Siegel” starts on Wednesday, June 8 and runs through the end of August.  These drop-in sessions will last from 7 – 8:30 p.m. so come by for some great advice about your composition and writing ideas. These workshops will be held in the lower level of the Milton Public Library 476 Canton Avenue in Milton 02186.  It is free to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Library.

The next June clinic will be on June 22 at 7 p.m.

Ms. Betty Siegel has taught in the College of Liberal Arts and Science at Quincy College and she is a professional tutor, skilled in many subjects including ESL, Oral Communication, Vocabulary, Basic Composition, Critical Thinking and more.  Her stories have been published in several local publications including Yankee Magazine.

June 9: Free Reiki demonstrations – Milton Public Library

Curious about what is Reiki and how this popular energy-based treatment works?  Experience it for yourself on Thursday, June 9, from 6:30-8pm.  Advance registration is required to get a free treatment. The event will be held on the lower level of the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton, MA  02186.  Admission is free and the event is sponsored by David and Suzette Standring and the Friends of the Milton Public Library.

Certified Reiki Practitioner Rasheeda Bowman of Sacred Self in Canton, along with four other Reiki practitioners, will discuss this holistic treatment widely used in hospitals as part of integrative medicine programs. The public is welcome to attend the free talk.  NOTE: A free 10 minute session can be enjoyed by the first 30 people who register in advance at www.miltonlibrary.org  (click on “Events”).

June 21: Specter – a free James Bond movie at the MPL

“Tuesday Night at the Movies” continues on June 21 with “Spectre,” the James Bond film (2015), starring Daniel Craig, Andrew Scott, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Belluci, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw. Christopher Waltz, and more. It starts promptly at 6:30 p.m.  The event will be held on the lower level of the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton, MA  02186.  Admission is free and the event is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.

A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra, the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal.  Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organization known as SPECTRE.

Come and check out this fast-paced film, which is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, some disturbing images, sensuality and language.  It is not suitable for children and the running time is 148 minutes.

June 22 – Pastels painting with Gregory Maichack

On Wednesday, June 22nd from 6-8 p.m., award-winning pastel painter Gregory Maichack returns to the library with an all new workshop called “Pastel Painting: Stunning Still Lifes Like the Masters.”  The art workshop will be held on the lower level of the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton, MA  02186.  Admission is free but an $8 materials fee will be collected at the door.  Space is limited and advance registration is required at www.miltonlibrary.org (click onto Events).  The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.

This is a hands-on art workshop, and is suitable for beginners to advanced students.  Mr. Maichack offers all the techniques students need to create a masterpiece to take home.  He also shares humorous and insightful anecdotes about the artists referred to in this workshop.
