August 2016 Art Exhibit – paintings by Tom Maholchic at the MPL

Tom Maholchic Artwork

During the month of August 2016, the Milton Public Library will host the work of local painter Tom Maholchic in its Wotiz Gallery, main floor of the library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. There will be a free reception in the Wotiz Gallery on Thursday, August 4 from 6-8 p.m.  The month long exhibit and the August 4 reception are free to the public.

Tom is a young Milton resident who finds creating art very rewarding. This is what he says about his work: “I’m 28, from Milton, and ever since I can remember I’ve loved to create, whether it’s through paint, pencil, movies, words, or music.  To be able to capture an emotion, memory, or idea in time and make it last is something I love to achieve.  I started painting about five years ago and within the past two years it has become one of my favorite activities.  I love blending vibrant colors to put a vision into reality.  Letting your mind wander and work in the moment is a very cathartic experience.  Inspiration comes to me from my surroundings, freestyle sketches, dreams, meditation and other artwork.  Also seeing how others – more experienced painters – use their mediums to create is a great resource for me.  Incorporating new methods keeps painting new and exciting.”

This exhibit includes pieces which depict abstract landscapes, objects and portraits which are quite colorful and modern in style.  This artist offers a wide variety of subject matter in his colorful work, so that there is something for everyone to appreciate.

There will be a free and open reception for viewing in the Wotiz Gallery on Thursday, August 4th from 6-8 PM.  Please join us to enjoy Tom’s work, and for more information about displaying your art at the library, contact Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at (617) 698-5757, x. 3 or Email jhlady@ocln.org
