August Art Exhibit: Paintings by Robson Pereira at the MPL

Art Image from Robson Alves Pereira

Through the month of August the colorful style of painter Robson Pereira will be on display in the Wotiz Gallery of the Milton Public Library, main floor, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. The exhibit is free to the public and open during library hours.

Pereira is a Brazilian-born self-taught artist who emigrated to the U.S. in 2007 and now lives in Brockton.  As many artists do, he has held lots of other jobs to support his craft and each one has influenced his artistic style, with its expression of elements related to nature where he finds a great deal of inspiration.  His work is colorful, modern, and unique because it is not done with a brush.

Instead he uses various objects to paint with: pieces of wood, plastic bags, dried tree branches, paint tubes, disposable plastic spoons, tassel grass, or anything that will bring an interesting texture to the piece.  The effects are similar to modern period painters such as Jackson Pollock and Wassily Kandinsky.

Come and enjoy this great exhibit during August, and for more information about displaying your art at the library, contact Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at (617) 698-5757, x. 3   The library is located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton.
