Nov. 2015 – Painting Exhibit by Christine Schoettle – MPL

Artist Christine SchoettleThroughout November, local painter Christine Schoettle will display her artwork in the Wotiz Gallery, main floor of the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton, MA 02186.

On Tuesday, November 3,  enjoy a free artist’s reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This is what Christine Schoettle says about her work: “I am drawn to the tranquility of painting and the potential to interpret the ordinary sights I encounter in my everyday life in a way that reveals something fresh and unexpected.  A garbage truck rolling down the street or the afternoon sunlight on a stop sign are the types of visuals that inspire my paintings, which are mainly representational but sometimes abstracted.  My depiction of these moments often involve deliberate brushwork, vibrant color and an emphasis on strong light and shadow patterns.”  Christine lives in Milton with her husband and four children.  To view her work, go to www.christineschoettle.com

Christine attended Syracuse University School of Visual and Performing Arts.  She worked in the Education Department at The Museum of Modern Art before pursuing a career in non-profit development.  She revisited painting after starting a family, and continues to educate herself through workshops, classes and by painting daily on her own.

Christine teaches “Paint Nights” and will teach an “Intro to Acrylics for Teens” this winter at The Milton Art Center, where she is a member of the Board of Directors.  She is a substitute art teacher in the Milton Academy Lower School, and a member of the South Shore Art Center and the Rockport Artists Association and The North River Arts Society.
