March 31: Meet 1956 Olympic Rowing Champions

Meet Our Olympic Rowers, Tuesday, March 31, 7pm in the Keys Room at the Library.

William “Beck” Becklean, coxswain for the 1956 Olympic Gold Medal winning crew team will share stories of the determination, perseverance and excitement that comes with winning Gold.  John “Biggy” Biglow, won Gold in the 1984 Olympics and his crew team became the subject of David Halberstam’s book The Amateurs.  John grew up in Seattle with Judy Rantz, the daughter of Joe Rantz, who is the leading character in The Boys in the Boat. John will share his own success story of Gold, and also Judy’s role as the collaborator with the book’s author Daniel James Brown.
