Art and History

The Massillon Museum was founded in 1933. In the years since, the staff has worked hard to collect and preserve items from Massillon’s history, assist researchers, educate children and adults, and provide FREE exhibits to the public. This blog is intended to give readers an in-depth look at collections (highlighting new items and rarely seen important artifacts), education, and outreach.

The Massillon Museum is both an art AND history museum, with something for everyone. Major collections include photography, costumes and textiles, glass and pottery, domestic appliances, and circus memorabilia. The Museum was first accredited in 1972 by the American Alliance of Museums and has continued to be accredited ever since. The permanent collection contains more than 100,000 objects, mostly gifts from the community.
