Lewiston, Maine native Patrick Dempsey will tackle the 2015 motorsport season at the wheel of a Porsche 911 RSR in the Sports Car World Endurance Championship WEC, including the world famous Le Mans 24-hour race. The American actor and race driver, who thrills fans all over the world in his role as “McDreamy” in the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy”, has been following his passion for racing since 2013 as a member of the Porsche motorsport family. With the expanded race program, the successful alliance between Porsche and Patrick Dempsey will continue. Continue reading

On Sunday, November 16th, the New England Antique Racers (NEAR), presented the 17th annual New England Auto Racers Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Conducted at Manelley’s Banquet Hall in South Windsor, CT., the HOF celebrates literally hundreds of feature victories, championships, and untold contributions to the sport of auto racing within the New England region. Instituted in 1998, the HOF now boasts membership of well-over 100 deserving individuals. Continue reading

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park celebrated the 2014 oval track season last weekend with a ceremony honoring four division champions in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series. All four Champions have won track titles at Thompson in previous years. Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn. was celebrated as the Sunoco Modified Champion for the second time in his career; Rick Gentes of Woonsocket, RI was honored for his sixth Late Model track title; Scott Sundeen of Sutton, Mass. was honored for his third time at the Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman head table; and Mike Viens of Seekonk, Mass. earned his second Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Monster Mini Stock championship. Trevor Noles capitalized on a bold 3-wide move with 10 laps to go to pass Christopher Bell and Jody Measamer and win Saturday afternoon’s Mason Dixon Meltdown 200 at Southern National Motorsports Park. Noles victory was his first career Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model triumph and also marked the first series win for the Coulter Motorsports team. Continue reading

Another agreement between the Pro All Star Series (PASS) and the American Canadian Tour (ACT) adds more welcome news for Late Model race fans and teams in the Northeast. Two more ‘doubleheader’ type events will be held following the announcement a week ago that the Oxford Plains Speedway would open the 2015 season with the first-ever PASS/ACT combination event on Saturday April 18, 2015. This is it. Homestead this weekend and the longest season in sports will be over for the NASCAR Sprint Cup teams. Denny Hamlin in the Joe Gibbs entry, Joey Logano from the Penske team, Ryan Newman representing the Richard Childress Racing and Phoenix winner Kevin Harvick driving for Stewart-Hass are the four survivors. It will be interesting to see if long -shot Newman is able to pull the championship off. Continue reading
