This is it. Homestead this weekend and the longest season in sports will be over for the NASCAR Sprint Cup teams. Denny Hamlin in the Joe Gibbs entry, Joey Logano from the Penske team, Ryan Newman representing the Richard Childress Racing and Phoenix winner Kevin Harvick driving for Stewart-Hass are the four survivors. It will be interesting to see if long -shot Newman is able to pull the championship off.

Newman said on the NBC Sports Network this week, “I’d like to win the championship. The trophy won’t have an engraving on it that didn’t win a race. It will have the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion.” Although, Newman could win that race and the championship. Frankly, I’m sure a lot of the NASCAR fans, still watching on TV and buying tickets, are pulling for him. Because they still hate the format.

All four seem capable of pulling off the championship. There may be two winners in this finale, though. One driver could win the race and another the Sprint Cup title. The ratings for last weekend’s round in Phoenix were the best since 2007! Maybe it wasn’t due to the fact that the fans like the new process of eliminations? Some seem to think that it’s due to the brawls and the potential of even more in the Cup finale. It will be interesting to see if the so-called Game 7 Moment that Brian France has tried to injected into the last ten races will kick up the TV ratings and ticket sales on this final weekend. We’ll be interested to see what the final TV ratings will be for the Homestead event. We’ll also be checking the grandstands to see how well this race drew ticket buyers.

We couldn’t help but notice the reports that Brian and his wife were hanging out with the so-called The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. We’re not surprised because Brian seems to have gravitated to the entertainment and Hollywood crowd of which a lot of NASCAR fans could care less about.

Next weekend the F1 Circus moves to Abu Dhabi and It looks like another race with 7th Game Moment potential because the World Driving Championship could go to either Nico Rosburg and Lewis Hamilton.
