The NEMA Lites roll into the Waterford Speedbowl this Saturday night for their fifth of a half dozen appearances this season. There has been a different winner in each visit to the “Bowl.” There’s a good chance another new face will grace Waterford’s victory lane in this one, too.

PJ Stergios, Paul Bigelow, Juris Kupris and Danny Cugini will all be racing for a a second Waterford win. The latter 3 getting their only wins so far of 2014 there. Stergios has not finished worse than a podium postion at Waterford all season.

Red hot Ryan Krachun has two runner-up finishes at The Bowl and is coming off his first-ever Lites win at Star two weeks ago. Canadian Logan Rayvals and Anthony “The Tornado” Payne each have second place finishes at Waterford and are favorites for their first ever win.

Add strong runners Andy Barrows, Scott Bigelow and Richie Morrocco to the list and you’ve got a real shoot-out setting up for Saturday night.

As the NEMA Lites season presented by All Star Performance heads for the final stretch of 2014, there are several drivers with their eyes on the point standings.

Krachun’s win and Cugini’s DNF at Star changed the top of standings again. Krachun was able to regain the lead and pull ahead by 82 points heading into Waterford. Cugini’s misfortune dropped him all the way to fourth, one point behind Andy Barrows and 4 points out of second, occupied by PJ Stergios.

Stergios has run less races than the rest of the top 5, but has only finished out of the top 3 twice. That includes 4 wins on the season.

Scott Bigelow is the only other repeat winner with 2 on the season. Scott is sixth in the points trailing his brother Paul who rounds out the top 5.

The NEMA Lites join Waterford’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions in a full card of stand-on-the-gas racing action. Qualifying begins at 5:30.

The Lites have only a week to prepare for their next event when they join the NEMA Midgets on the shores of Lake Ontario at the famous Oswego Speedway on September 13.
